Upon seeing this listing, you might naturally skip the phrase "initial stages" as just a turn of phrase.

Yet, it could be the crucial part of this unique employment listing, as it attempts to recruit a tutor for a 12-month-old.

Numerous of responses have since been received since the unidentified family posted their search for the £180k-a-year tutor, who has to be "a uniquely qualified person".

In recent few weeks, the advert has received interest throughout the news, with numerous wondering why?

Forward-Thinking Method

The CEO, head and founder of Tutors International, which is assisting the family in their hunt, explained that notwithstanding early skepticism, he considered the plan "far sighted", and "advanced".

When he consulted the family, he noted they understood the atypical aspect of their demand, and how immature their son is.

But, they clarified that they "were unwilling to delay any longer" to engage a tutor, as they had held off until their elder sibling was five, and by that point "cultural influence had by then taken hold".

But what did the family indicate by "cultural predisposition"?

It's "comprehensive", Adam replied. "How you eat, the way you speak".

He said the firstborn had adopted "extremely delicate, non-verbal cues" from the family, and had adopted their cultural ways. The family told Adam they hoped to prevent this pattern to happen again with their new baby.

The strategy: To bring in a English tutor, who must speak with RP, to influence the baby right from the beginning.

Osmotic Learning

"A lot of the learning at the start here is rather absorbed naturally," said Adam.

It's by means of this natural absorption that the family are expecting the child will acquire the British traits they wish to cultivate.

The consultant explained the tutor had to be someone who went to "the right kinds of schools – comparable categories of schools as the family hope to send their son to".

However, in spite of all this instruction in "UK identity", might the child absorb what is termed cultural influence from the globally influenced family he resides with anyway?

"Certainly", replied the CEO. "They understand this may not work, but they've just taken the attitude of, 'let's give it a go and let's go as quickly as we can', because the cost of it is not relevant," he said.

Impractical

Peter Cui, head and founder of an educational organization, who also offer private tutors, commented that "the process of becoming bicultural, or indeed, becoming oneself, is something that must be experienced personally, not engineered."

He explained that he had emigrated from China to the United Kingdom at the age of 7 years old, and had been educated understanding and living both cultures. He continued to study at Cambridge University.

"The notion that a single person can function as a embodiment of Britishness, an individual who can possibly transplant the attributes of a British gentleman to a infant child, strikes me as idealistic and unfeasible," he commented.

"Based on my background, engaging a distinctly British tutor from infancy will does not automatically achieve the result they desire.

"I did not have such a tutor, and nevertheless I have been privileged enough to live several of the experiences they desire for their son."

He added: "The fact is, personal identity cannot be forced from the external environment; it must be embraced, and it must originate internally."

Acquiring Englishness

Naturally, UK identity is something the CEO hopes can be taught – and sold.
