Los Angeles Experiences Unprecedented High Temperatures Just Days Following Severe Winter Storm.
After enduring heavy downpours that resulted in floodwaters across parts of the city, the City of Angels is now grappling with abnormally hot conditions for this time of year.
All-Time High Heat
On Friday midday, the temperature soared to 91°F (33°C) in the city center, per data from meteorologists. This exceeds the old record for February 27th, which was 88°F (31°C) and was set just last year.
"Unusually high temperatures" were labeled on NWS charts for the region.
Public Health Advisories
Authorities cautioned that Friday's weather posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their advice featured:
- Drinking plenty of fluids.
- Limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Not leaving anyone unattended in a parked vehicle.
A Dramatic Reversal
This sudden spike in heat comes on the heels of a massive winter storm that struck the state earlier in the week. That storm unleashed high winds, thunderstorms, and significant snowfall to higher elevations, causing evacuation orders for millions residents.

Forecast Ahead
Looking ahead a cooldown is coming. Temperatures were forecast to drop to around sixty-one degrees Fahrenheit in the city by overnight.
Other locales that hit ninety degrees were Long Beach, Burbank, and Woodland Hills. Elsewhere, Santa Maria, Oxnard, Camarillo, and Westwood were expected to see the high 80s.
Over Saturday and Sunday, downtown Los Angeles can expect temperatures in the eighties, with cooler weather expected for the start of March.
