Former Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician stands accused of committing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault â including acts against children younger than 13 â between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor stated, âOur prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.â
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators described as a âdetailed inquiryâ into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
