Brian Eno Calls On Support to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The diverse array of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of prominent voices from the music world. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The track blends a mix of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The team running the project have clarified that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a representative commented. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The reality in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The track is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
